Prayer and Praise
We invite you to join us in prayer for our ministry activities and outreaches.
Thank you for bringing our requests before the Lord.
Monday 1 – Today we have two Wheels for the World teams leaving for Mexico, one to Monterrey and the other to Guadalajara. Ask God to bless both teams with health and energy as they experience long days of fitting wheelchairs. Pray that each recipient and their family will clearly hear and understand the presentation of the gospel message.
Tuesday 2 – Praise God for the volunteer Area Team members supporting our local offices across the United States. As the team leaders build their teams, pray for clear communication and strong partnerships. Ask God to guide our staff as they equip the Area Team members to serve in their roles.
Wednesday 3 – During April, our office in the California Bay Area will be hosting multiple trainings to equip churches to welcome and include people of all abilities. In addition to praying that each training will be an encouragement to the attendees, pray also for the opportunity to recruit more volunteers to serve the 70 families registered for Bay Area Family Retreats.
Thursday 4 – This afternoon our disability ministry network group for New England meets. Pray that this network continues to equip, encourage, and facilitate the inclusion of people and families with disabilities in faith communities.
Friday 5 – Today we have a Wheels for the World team traveling to Cuba. Ask God to go before the team, providing divine appointments and the resources needed at every step of the way.
Saturday 6 – Our Wheels for the World outreach to Guatemala begins today. Pray for recipients to have a new awareness of God’s care for them because of the gift of a wheelchair or other mobility device.
Monday 8 – Our interns from Hardin-Simmons University and Shepherds College are preparing for their time of service with us. Pray for their onboarding as they gain a foundation of understanding for the months ahead.
Tuesday 9 – Over the next several days, several Joni and Friends staff members will be attending and speaking at the Christian Leadership Alliance Outcomes Conference. Ask God to encourage other ministry workers through the experience and example of Joni and Friends. Pray for our attending staff members to also be refreshed.
Wednesday 10 – Praise God for a successful respite event with Joni’s House East St. Louis. Ask God to continue to strengthen our team as they serve families impacted by disability in the East St. Louis area.
Thursday 11 – Our Joni and Friends Nashville team will be hosting their first Family Retreat this summer. Praise God for the key leaders who are in place and pray that each volunteer role will also be filled quickly.
Friday 12 – Ask God to establish pathways for people living with disabilities to be welcome in every church. Pray that church communities will not just tolerate and make space for individuals, but actively seek avenues for people living with disabilities to use their gifts to serve the Body of Christ.
Saturday 13 – Praise God for our Chair Corps volunteers across the United States who facilitate the collection of used wheelchairs for Wheels for the World. Pray for our collection efforts as we hope to expand the number of wheelchairs collected, stored, restored, and shipped.
Monday 15 – Our annual May Match fundraising campaign is approaching. Ask God to provide for our local, national, and international programs through this opportunity to double individual gifts.
Tuesday 16 – With our Family Retreat registrations full for families, it is time to make sure we have the right number of volunteers for each Family Retreat. Pray for volunteer recruitment efforts to be successful and for each retreat to have all the volunteers it needs.
Wednesday 17 – Joni is spending today recording radio! Pray for her to have the energy and health to make it through each of the planned recordings. Ask God to use the programs to bring hope to people experiencing hardship.
Thursday 18 – Because of several restrictions related to government assistance and other sources of financial help, many people with disabilities must make difficult decisions about working, affording a caregiver, and marriage. Pray for churches to seek creative ways to help alleviate this ongoing stress for so many.
Friday 19 – This weekend we are hosting Marriage Getaways in Louisiana and Tennessee. Pray for each marriage impacted by disability to be strengthened through the activities and time away from daily responsibilities. Ask God to bring healing and togetherness as each husband and wife dedicates this time to strengthening their marriage.
Saturday 20 – Recent legislation in countries around the world has made medical aid in dying an attractive choice to many. Pray against this trend as it reinforces lies about life not being worth living in the midst of suffering. Ask God to safeguard life, especially among vulnerable populations.
