ken tada and veronica hache at fitting a young boy with a new wheelchair

Right now, a team from our Joni and Friends’ Christian Institute on Disability is in El Salvador, teaching at the Evangelical University of El Salvador – they are leading a class of 90 pastors and 120 students in our Beyond Suffering course which covers a theology of suffering and practical models of disability ministry. We are ‘setting the stage’ for more Christ-centered outreach in El Salvador next month -- in November, we will hold an International Family Retreat as well as a Total Access Outreach (widening doorways, building ramps, making curb cuts and more). It’s all about proclaiming that the Gospel of Christ is accessible to all, as well as portraying what the love of God looks like to the people with disabilities of El Salvador! Lots more evangelism in El Salvador is planned for 2012… how about joining us?!

It gave me such joy to fit this little boy with this Regency chair. It fit him "perfectly". He couldn't see, hear, speak or walk, and yet, he had such joy in his face when we sat him on it and gave him a tray table where he could lean on and feel his surroundings! Thank you for the opportunity to serve Christ with you! Veronica

Sister Joni, I thank God for your ministry, and for the wonderful work that you and the ministry staff are doing in my native country, El Salvador. I 've hear you share your experience with cancer treatmeant in BBN radio, it is nice to know that we serve an awesome God! Please share your experience of how God led you to this ministry. I also want to ask that you pray for me, I will to work for the lord and want his guidance. I plan on returning back to my country to work for the lord. I don't know when but i know that God has begun to open doors. God bless!
